Hawaii 2010!

Trent and I finally made the commitment to take a vacation to Hawaii! Since I work for an airline and get travel perks, we are continually asked why we don't go more places - if anything at least Hawaii.
So we went on Monday Dec 13 through Friday Dec 17. We ended up choosing the island of Maui.

One of the best parts about our travels was that we got first class on our flight over. Once you have ever had first class, you crave it when you are forced to sit in coach. Besides, first class on a 5 1/2 hour flight really helps the time go by too.

We didn't load up our week with things to do all day. This was truly a vacation where we relax. For some reason we just don't ever get that chance. So the idea of leaving it all behind and finding a week of peace was the best gift to ourselves.

Some of our activities included going to the beach many times, driving to Hana (a road that has over 600 hair pin turns - and you only go about 15 miles an hour), seeing a lava cave/tunnel, driving the "forbidden" back side of the island, and eating lots of fresh fish.

The best part of it all...Trent is sold on going again! (For those who don't know, his idea of vacation is in the woods, nature, mountains - mine is a beach)

It was a great time!

Aloha

My 1st Triathalon: SHAC Turkey Tri

What a blast it is to "tri".
This past summer my friend Anni from work mentioned that she has wanted to do a tri. We knew there was one coming up in Nov so we made the commitment to do it!
After practicing swimming (which I found out that I actually enjoy), working on my transitions, the day was here.

The day was actually only about 40 degrees so I was worried that I would freeze to my bike since I would be soggy after just swimming. Luckily though, my body was warmed up enough from the swim that the cold wasn't even a factor.
I truly had a wonderful time. I felt amazing after I had finished - no pain, just pure bliss. I would like to do another one this Spring!

Little Red Ridding Hood - June 4th 2010

June 4th, my sister-in-law and I rode the Little Red Ridding Hood bike ride in Logan Utah.

It was an amazing time! Trent, Mark, and Rylee were also there as our "SAG".

The course is ideal for riding because it is flat with just little rolling hills. The scenery is also amazing. Beautiful green mountains and hill sides.
I took advantage of the terrain and completed the 100 mile - Century - ride. It was so invigorating to complete a century ride. There were definitely moments where my brain was trying to play games with me and ask "what are you doing this for?". However I am so excited that I was able to complete it!
Teresa rode the 35 mile course. In hind sight, she wishes she would have done the 50 mile ride.

The ride is organized so well! It was amazing at the amount of support that is provided. Almost every 10 miles there were great rest stops with the right kind of snacks/foods. Bonneville Cycling Club knows how to do it!

I hope that I will be able to ride this again next year. It was a great ride and amazing time.
